Aronian's letter, shared via social media, addresses Kramnik with respect and concern, referencing Kramnik’s decision to file a civil defamation case in Geneva. The suit targets Chess.com, Chessdom, and Czech GM David Navara, whom Kramnik accuses of defamation stemming from disputes over alleged online chess cheating.

Aronian highlights Kramnik’s significant impact on his own chess career, fondly referring to him as one of his "chess parents." He credits Kramnik with shaping his understanding of the game. He also reminisces about Kramnik’s past triumphs, including his victories over Garry Kasparov and Peter Leko.

Aronian doesn't dismiss the concerns surrounding Kramnik's recent behavior. He suggests that Kramnik is battling internal struggles fueled by his campaign against perceived cheating in online chess.

This plea follows a period of tension after Kramnik insinuated that Navara had cheated, leading Navara to reveal the detrimental impact of these accusations on his mental well-being. Kramnik responded by demanding legal action or silence, culminating in the controversial lawsuit.

The chess community has responded to Kramnik's legal move with mixed reactions. Grandmasters like Pavel Eljanov have voiced support for Navara, with Eljanov calling Navara "one of the most honest people in chess".

Aronian concludes his letter with a call for unity and forgiveness, emphasizing the interconnectedness of the chess community: "We are a family... let us start from a fresh page.”
