There’s also a possibility of three India vs Pakistan clash in the Asia Cup if both teams reach the final set to be played on 28th September, 2025. India have an upper hand over Pakistan in T20I history, having won 10 out of the 13 matches played between the two teams. Pakistan's last victory vs India also came during the Asia Cup 2022, where they emerged victorious by five wickets.
Meanwhile, there has been massive backlash in India ahead of the clash against Pakistan as a large section of people are unhappy with the decision to play against their arch-rivals in the aftermath of the Pulwama terrorist attack. The Indian government continues to remain firm on its stance of not having any bilateral sporting relations with Pakistan.
However, this restriction does not extend to multilateral tournaments, such as the World Cups and the Olympics, where both countries participate under the jurisdiction of international governing bodies. These tournaments are held in neutral or third-party venues, ensuring no direct bilateral arrangements and maintaining a politically neutral environment for competition.
